What is Destination Imagination?

Destination Imagination’s purpose is to inspire and equip students to become the next generation of innovators and leaders. Annually, Destination Imagination offers seven new standards-based Challenges in STEM, Improv, Visual Arts, Service Learning, and Early Learning. Each Challenge is open-ended and enables student teams to learn and experience the creative process from imagination to production.

Each team of 4-6 children (ages 3-8th grade, separated by age) will prepare a solution to the challenge they select, as well as mini-STEM challenges, in their weekly class. The teams then travel to Seattle in the early spring, where they have the opportunity to present their solutions to trained appraisers. Students have fun and gain confidence in their ability to tackle any challenge. In working to solve Challenges, teams utilize skills - creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, citizenship, courage, and beyond - to build on their unique strengths.

We know this is new to Bellingham but they have many teams in Seattle we will see at the tournaments. To learn more about this exciting opportunity please check out their website here or email us for details.
