Our Middle School Program takes place on Tuesday (6:30 PM) or Wednesday (5:00 PM) nights, when middle schoolers take over the Club for an evening of excitement, learning, and collaboration! Students can choose from three dynamic areas of focus: VEX Robotics, Fusion 360 & BattleBots, or Coding, AI & Apps.

These classes are designed to be super social and fun, offering students the chance to work together, solve problems, and get creative in a lively, hands-on environment. Whether they’re building robots, designing BattleBots, or coding their own app, they'll be part of a supportive and energetic community of fellow learners. Join us for a night of building, coding, and exploring—all while making new friends and having a blast!

VEX ROBOTICS + DRONES

In the fall and winter (Sept-March) The Coding and Robotics Club is excited to use VEX robotics to spur innovation and excitement in our middle school program.  A team/class of 6+ students come together in groups of 2-4 to build and then compete in our own VEX Robotic Competition!   To read more about the competitions please click here. Each middle schooler signs up for one class but is welcome to come to any middle school class to work on their robot. After the competition they will move onto another long term project, designing, printing and building drones in Bellingham (spring of 2025) and building and testing underwater robots in Skagit! Please visit our Join Now page here for times and days and to register!

FUSION 360 + BATTLEBOTS

In our Fustion 360 and BattleBots Robotics Class, students will spend the year designing, building, testing, and continually improving their custom robots. Using Fusion 360, they'll create detailed designs, test their robots' performance, and refine them through hands-on experimentation.

Throughout the class, students will work on coding, engineering, and problem-solving as they prepare for exciting competitive challenges. The class culminates in a BattleBots tournament, where students will see their hard work pay off as they face off to claim victory. Ready to innovate, test, and refine your robot for the ultimate battle? Join us for a year of design, testing, and competition!

CODING, AI + APPS

Finally, in our Middle School Coding, AI & App Development Class, students will choose their own coding projects and explore a variety of programming languages throughout the year. Starting with Scratch for beginners, they’ll progress to more advanced languages like Python for app development, and even dive into Unity for creating interactive games.

This class is designed to be super social, encouraging students to collaborate, share ideas, and work together on projects. As they learn and grow, they’ll develop not only technical skills but also teamwork, communication, and problem-solving abilities—key skills for any future coder.

Students will design, test, and refine their projects while building valuable experience in coding, artificial intelligence, and app development. Ready to start with Scratch and level up to Python and Unity? Join us for a year of coding, creativity, and social collaboration!

Van Transportation

We’re excited to announce that we’re now offering van pick-up for Middle Schoolers on Tuesdays! The van will begin at Kulshan at approximately 5:15 PM, then head to Fairhaven Middle School for pick-up at 5:30 PM. Once everyone is aboard, we’ll head to the Club, where we’ll have pizza ready for the kids before class starts at 6:30 PM.

After class, we’ll bring them back to Fairhaven and Kulshan at 8:15 PM. This service is available for an additional $50 per month.

We’re thrilled to make it easier for your kids to join us for a fun and engaging evening!

BCRC is developing the first Drone Team in Whatcom County!  Each team of 6+ students will program and learn to fly their own drone, with the eye on competing in the Rapid Relay competition

NOW, SOME OF THE FINE PRINT FOR VEX ROBOTICS

Each team will be made of two members. We do our best to mix it up and find the best fit for your child!

We welcome and encourage you to bring your own team to build and then compete! Please email us for more details and savings!

The cost of the robotics and drone classes will include one age appropriate VEX Robot system or Drone per team.
