Summer Camp 2023 Information

Bellingham + Skagit Coding and Robotics Camps are the best way to introduce kids to coding, STEM and robotics as well as outside sports and activities. Kids will discover new tech skills in an energetic, kid-friendly learning environment. Kids can expect a common sense mix of instructions, breaks, social times, team building, outdoor play, optional sports and other creative tech activities. Our goal is to expose children to computer science in a way that builds their confidence, establishes healthy screen habits and encourages life-long learning.

In 2023 we will again have three summer camp locations, one to serve the kids in north Whatcom at Meridian Middle School, one in Skagit in our Burlington Club house as well as Burlington-Edison High School and one in Fairhaven where we are expanding to use Fairhaven Middle School. All camps will be offered at all locations at some point during the summer! For maps and exact locations of summer camps, please click here!

All Camps now include MOVIE NIGHT (aka Date Night for you!) every Thursday Night!

This camp uses a variety of robots to teach STEM, building and coding to our youngest adventurers. This camp is specifically designed for kids ages 5-8 years old to encourage fun, teamwork, curiosity, critical thinking, courage, and creativity. The summer is for experiential learning and The Coding and Robotics Club answers the call! It’s time to take off and build STEM skills that will build the foundation for many years to come. Reading is helpful but not required and camp will end at 2pm with outdoor free time and pick up from 2-3pm (we know those little ones get tired after a day of fun!)

Based on the great response we got from our Holiday Minecraft Camp we are keeping this as a new favorite! Each day the campers will have a variety of activities that revolve around Minecraft. We will, of course, be using the Minecraft Education to teach coding, as well as a whole bunch of Minecraft STEM activities such as pixel art, 3D designing and printing Minecraft characters, going on daily outdoor Minecraft Live Role Action adventures and so much more! Each day will end with 30 minutes of good ole Minecraft fun on our server, I mean how can we say no?

Yes, you heard it right, every kid's favorite way to spend a day! We will build and program VEX robots, construct and blast off rockets, and race our drones through a midair obstacle course! We will also head outside for some healthy, good ‘ole fashion games like kickball, tag or capture the flag. Kids will work on their critical thinking, collaboration, creative problem-solving, leadership skills and of course, our favorite word “resilience” as they build, fly, drive, code and blast off in this one of a kind summer camp adventure!

Does your child love to game? Interested in making their ideas come to life? Let’s take your skills to the next level by designing and making your own games! This camp welcomes new users coding in Scratch as well as those with some experience where they can code in a variety of languages like Javascript, Python and more. Campers will each create their own games as well as present their final projects to the rest of their camp and parents on the last day! Don’t worry parents, as with all our camps and classes, we have a healthy mix of screen time, STEM team challenges and fun outside activities to make this camp a hit for everyone!

TechGurlz Camp is based on our popular TechGurlz class and is a gender-inclusive program designed with girls ages 9-14 in mind. We take the pressure off so girls can get straight to what matters—building a love of tech and bringing meaningful projects to life with unabashed creativity. We let them take the lead but plan on offering 3D design and printing, graphic design with Canva, coding stories and games with Scratch, website design with HTML, digital photography and film editing, GarageBand music creation, laser cutting jewelry or wherever their curiosity takes them!

Experience the wonders of space travel right here on Earth. Kids will develop team building skills as they compete in a design challenge to colonize space for earthlings! Interactive STEAM activities include: rover design/build; rocket design/build/LAUNCH!; hydroponics; art; space walk simulations; and more. Our 5 day program will stimulate young minds to think about how to live in space while developing their own ideas to travel, colonize and thrive in outer space. This camp will also include a field trip to Bayside Swimming Pool (tentatively planned for Wed Nights) to experience gravity by performing underwater challenges! It’s going to be a BLAST!

This camp will focus on building VEX Robotics to compete in the 2023-2024 VEX Challenge. This camp is both a stand alone camp and a precursor to our school-year Robotics Teams to give them an extra boost in this years competitions! During the three activity periods the middle schoolers will be given the chance to choose between building their competition robots, coding in Javascript or working through some of our hands on STEM activities.

Waitlists

WORD TO THE WISE: Don’t be afraid of waitlists (the only way to get on one, is to register by clicking on the word “Waitlist” by the camp you want and going through the process)! We have a few weeks where we can drop in camps and we will choose the dates and type of camps based on what camps/dates have the most waitlists. Those on the waitlists will be sent an invitation to register first. Despite giving your credit card, YOU WILL NOT BE CHARGED until you agree, in writing, if you want the camp. We pinky promise. We wish we didn’t have to ask for your credit card but the software requires it! If there is no “Waitlist” or “Register” available, the waitlist is full (all are capped at 8)

Cancellations, Refunds and Transferring

We understand that life changes, even with the best intentions and plans (especially when you have to book in February, we hear you - we have kids too!). We also know that many decisions here at The Coding and Robotics Club are put into action based on enrollment expectations. In light of this, 10% of the cost is non-refundable, regardless of when you cancel. After that, refund amounts are based on how far in advance we receive the written request prior to camp start.

  • 75% refund thirty (30) or more days before start of camp (not including 10% non-refundable registration fee).

  • 50% refund fourteen (14) or more days before start of camp (not including 10% non-refundable registration fee).

  • 25% refund thirteen (13) days or less before start of camp (not including 10% non-refundable registration fee).

  • No refunds after camp starts.

  • You may change camps to any other camp with space up to one month before the camp you are changing to is set to start. We will do our best to allow camp changes closer than one month if possible, but not guaranteed.
